Project agenda

MEIF has started in January 2003 and will last 18 months. The first 12 months will be dedicated to the work packages 1-7 (see box below) and the last 6 months will be used for the dissemination of the results. The methodology used has been presented during the Third World Water Forum that took place in Kyoto, Japan on 16-23 March 2003.

The approach of the project is divided in three phases :

  • A first phase called "Initialisation" (work packages 1 to 3) that aims at drawing up an inventory of existing data, raising awareness and winning support from institutions, producing structural data and providing a sound information basis for work in the following phases;
  • A second phase called "Thematic analysis", in which the three core "themes" of the project will be developed : investments, finance and water pricing (work packages 4 to 7);
  • A third phase called "Dissemination" that will be dedicated to reporting on the results and dissemination of the results. It will be the base for the themes that will be investigated in the future (work package 8).
